Dear partners, dear readers,

On the occasion of COP 21 in Paris on 12th December 2015, 195 countries adopted the first universal climate agreement to combat climate change.

Although it is the least polluting continent on the planet, Africa suffers most from the effects of climate change: rising temperatures, drought, floods, the destruction of vegetation, food and water supply crises – these are all critical issues faced by the African continent.

To address these key challenges, the Monegasque Cooperation will continue to focus its aid on the most vulnerable African countries.

For UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon: “We have entered a new era of global cooperation”. 2016 thus opens up unique prospects of hope and solidarity...may the rest of the year prove to be just as positive and the situation in the Middle East ease.

Together with the whole team at the Office of International Cooperation, I would like to wish you an excellent 2016, filled with joy and solidarity.

Bénédicte Schutz, Director of the International Cooperation
